Stop Asking Politicians to Do the Right Thing for BTS
The global BTS Army is watching. Many of you asked for a petition to express your frustration over the years-long manipulation of the BTS members by the Korean government. You can go to https://change.org/ARMYLOVESBTS to keep politicians accountable.
Why? BTS members have been roped into acting as PR ambassadors for Busan’s application to be the host city for World Expo 2030. Just like the Olympics, many cities around the world are competing for this coveted event and politicians are using BTS to boost their chances. Hosting the event will line the pockets of politicians and businesses through sweetheart deals and for many ‘public servants’, this will be their meal ticket!
However, it’s naive to assume that BTS will get a fair outcome of this ‘deal’. One rite of passage in being Korean is to have promises broken on a massive scale. Corpses of betrayal litter the streets under all the flash and glam because people don’t speak up. Well, it’s time for the global ARMY to say they’re watching. Of course, it’s wonderful for BTS to serve South Korean interests, yet again. But unless politicians know they’ll be held accountable, what’s to stop them from breaking their promises one more time?
