Embattled K-pop girl group NEW JEANS may have thought it gained the upper hand by holding an emergency press conference to announce they've severed ties with parent companies ADOR & HYBE before jetting off to Japan. But they may return to Korea next week to find themselves completely outmaneuvered.

Even at the press conference, the reporters' questions indicated they knew HYBE had dealt the members and their mama a serious blow to New Jeans' legal grounds for a unilateral contract termination. HYBE sent an epic 22-page response, which essentially told the girls 'we expect you to be back at work' until 2029.
