Impossible to Get Vaccine in South Korea?

In Seoul, until August 8th, no more than two people are allowed to meet up after 6 p.m. There's a 10 p.m. curfew on restaurants and cafes and a ban nightclubs and other entertainment venues. We're desperately trying to contain the daily infection rate in the nation to under 2,000 as it fluctuates around 1,500 to 1,800 people. Yet, vaccination rates are low, not due to slack demand, but quite the opposite, there's not enough supply.

As opposed to the case in the United States, here in South Korea, we are literally fighting over the leftovers in the vaccine vials everyday. Distributed through apps, it's first come first serve to whoever has the fastest reflexes to nab a same day appointment. Since regular appointments for the vaccine are still being rolled out from the oldest to the youngest, we still haven't finished scheduling those in their 50s for their first shot.

The Korean government says it will try to get 70% of Koreans their first shot by the end of September. Yet, it all depends on how much supply we can get.

So please America, get your shots done more quickly so that federal, state and local governments will release stockpiles to the rest of the world. The longer you wait, the longer we have to hold on by a thread.
