There's a New Petition for SJM! | Demand for FULL Release of CCTV Footage & Scientific Investigation
In his latest blog post, Son Jung Min's father announces the new petition to the National Assembly of Korea, which demands 1) the full release of CCTV camera footage from the night his son went missing in the Han River and 2) a full scientific-based investigation to explain the final outcome. Only 100,000 signatures for this petition are needed by September 18, 2021 and we are already almost half way there after only a few days.
However, only those with Korean resident registration numbers are allowed to reply to the petition.

BUT BUT BUT!
For non-Koreans around the world who would like to make a symbolic gesture of support, I started a petition on change.org which I will forward on to SJM's father and offices at the National Assembly and the Blue House to show there are people around the world who also really care about the families of South Korea.

There’s a New Petition for SJM!
This time it’s to the National Assembly: Our Version of Congress.
It’s asking for Full Release of CCTV Camera Footage.
And a Full Scientific Based Investigation of SJM’s Tragic Events That Night at the Han River.
In his latest blog post, SJM’s father titles it ㄱㄴㅈ
It was a short-handed text message that SJM sends to Mr. A at 11:33 p.m. from the convenience store.
Mr. Son thinks his son meant "가는중" or "On my way."
Mr. A was probably getting impatient for SJM to get back with the picnic mat so they could start drinking and asking where the f are you?
Remember at 11:14 pm they had already gone to the same convenience store to buy snacks. On the way out we saw SJM eying the picnic mats on the CCTV camera footage. It was obvious that he was wondering if he should get one. Well, turns out he changed his mind and did go back to get one. Plus a chocolate milk.
Why is this important?
SJM’s father is again trying to bust open the theory of Mr. A’s blackout. And now he’s thrown out even more receipts that makes Mr. A’s mother look shady AF!!!
He shows the captured screenshots from the CCTV footage that shows SJM probably hasn’t had a drop to drink yet. He’s alone and looking quite impatient and how slow the cashiers are. It’s sad to think about - this is going to be his last store he has to shop at.
The father shows the receipt: 6 bucks for the mat. A buck fifty for the milk.
And then… he shows a text message from Mr. A’s mother.
Presumably it’s from 9 p.m. on the day when SJM went missing and they searched the park. It sounds like she’s reporting to SJM’s father what she heard from her son about what happened.
This is when you see the mom start concocting the son’s blackout story and time stamp to begin at the 11:14 p.m. visit to the convenience store.
She says: My son bought some alcohol near the Jamwon Cathedral. Then Jungmin bought more alcohol at the convenience store at the Han River park. They went to the Han River convenience store multiple times. My son mainly drank Chungha and Makgeolli while Jungmin mainly drank Soju. My son drank all the Chungha and starting from when he drank the Makgeolli he couldn’t remember very well. (Unhappy face)
This contradicts the blackout timeline because he didn't chug all the bottles of Chungha at 11:14 p.m. at the convenience store and instantly black out while he was buying snacks. They wouldn't have even had started opening the bottles and drinking until after 11:33 p.m. when SJM got back with the picnic mat.
SHADY!!!
Word of Thanks
At the top of his blog post, Mr. Son gives a shout out to the witnesses who took the photos at 2:18 a.m. and 3:37 a.m. Those two photos are critical pieces of evidence to move forward with a new investigation to challenge the Seocho Police Department’s version of the night in question.
2:18 a.m. is the slumped over picture of SJM after the witness saw Mr. A lying prone on SJM and rummaging through SJM’s pockets. Thanks to the witness for wanting to document something shady going on.
3:37 a.m. thanks to a witness who was just a fan of moons and bridges. Stars do align. 3:37 a.m. How did that happen?
More on the Petition
Even though the Blue House petition received over 500,000 signatures, SJM’s father wants to try a different avenue. A successful petition to the National Assembly could launch a new investigation.
It only needs 100,000 signatures in a 30 day time period.
We have until September 18th, 2021.
In 3 days it collected about 25,000 signatures. In under a week, we're almost halfway there.
Unfortunately only Korean people can sign it.
But if you are Korean, or if you’re a foreigner living in Korea with a resident registration you can sign the petition.

And for those who are not in Korea, I made an honorary petition on change.org we can sign. I’m not sure how far I will distribute it, but at the very least I will send it to SJM’s dad so he can attach it to whomever. And I’ll send it to the party floor leaders of the National Assembly and the Blue House communications office.

Constitutionally, in Korea, citizens have the right to submit petitions to the government.
It should contain a request for rectification of the issue.
If the petition garners 100,000 signatures in 30 days, it moves on to the next level.
A committee reviews the petitions and approves or rejects the petitions.
If approved, the request will be submitted at a regular session of the National Assembly.
If rejected, it will not be.
If the general session of the National Assembly votes to approve the request, it will be sent to the appropriate government agency.
Then the government agency has to issue a report of what it did to resolve the issue.
Let’s hope it goes through. It sounds like a lengthy process.
But it offers multiple points of media coverage along the way.
