What About the CCTV? | Why Can't Police Show Video of SJM Entering Han River?
On February 10, 2022, a South Korean judge will rule whether additional CCTV footage in the Son Jung Min mystery will be released as requested by the bereaved parents. The Seocho police department has repeatedly blocked moves to allow access to the family and the public on various grounds including personal privacy. If so, then why don't the police just show us the footage of the moment SJM entered the Han River that night?
In a case that is still unsolved, it would solve it once and for all. Instead, the police used a slight of hand to shift the investigation's focus on how and why SJM ended up in the river to whether there was any criminal involved in a scenario that had no definitive conclusion. In other words, they don't know how something ended up, but they're sure Mr. A had nothing to do with it, even though he was never a suspect. Even though they treated the evidence like he were.
The simple answer is they can't produce CCTV footage of SJM walking into the river on his own because it doesn't exist. Yet, that's the fantasy they were trying to goad our imaginations into believing without directly saying it. And now, even though their star witness (the fishermen) say it was a middle-aged man who entered the river, they're hoping we'll all forget and let yet another coverup go unnoticed in our beautiful capital city of Seoul.
