Did President Yoon REALLY tell Biden to eff off?
So did he or didn't he? South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol is being accused of making off-color remarks at a VIP event for The Global Fund in New York City. Supposedly, he said it'd be embarrassing for Biden if the U.S. Congress blocks funding. But since then, he claims he was just talking about Korea's politicians not passing his own pledge to fund the battle against AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis. Most salacious is whether he used the phrase: sae-kki... which you guys studying Korean know are some fighting words!
But the U.S. has said it doesn't care. Plus, the garbled recording isn't really conclusive, especially since he was just making the comment to his foreign minister as they were just walking towards the exit. But in South Korea, the issue won't go away. Why? It's a golden political weapon for the dude he defeated by a narrow margin to win the presidency. And it looks like a classic revenge tale out of a K-drama! Watch this video for more!
